LAHORE: The power crisis across the country has intensified as the overall electricity shortfall reached 5000 megawatts, ARY News reported on Thursday. According to sources, the unannounced load-shedding has begun across the country as the electricity shortfall has reached 5000MW. Sources privy to the development said that several power plants working on gas, coal and furnace oil have been closed. The duration of load-shedding in Punjab has reached 3 to 10 hours. Lahore Electricity Supply Company Limited (LESCO) is facing shortage of 1000mw as the demand is 4,100mw and the available power is 3,100mw. Currently, 610mw Engro Power Plant in Thar, Port Qasim’s power plant with a capacity of 310 are closed. Nuclear K2, K3, Chasnob, Liberty Power Plant, Guddu Power Plant are also facing shortage and not producing power at their full capacity. ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken important decisions regarding the local government (LG) polls in Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan, ARY News reported on Tuesday. The decisions were taken in a high-level session chaired by chief election commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja today which was attended by ECP members and senior officers. The officials briefed the CEC regarding the progress on the electoral lists to which the ECP senior officers expressed satisfaction. The provincial election commissioners have been directed to monitor the review work of the electoral lists. A briefing was also given on the delimitation process in Islamabad. It was told that the initial delimitations of Islamabad will be published on April 15 before its final publication on May 19. Lahore: A young boy has confessed to murdering his mother amid doubts over her character, ARY News reported on Tuesday. According to the details, the 18-year-old boy also tried to stage a fake robbery after stabbing his mother to death. The boy had claimed that a dacoit had killed her mother after she tried to resist the robbery, the police said.  Superintendent of Police Cant Lahore has said that the boy named Hassan killed his mother because he had doubts about her character. At least 20 people were reported dead after a group of gunmen stormed an illegal cockfight in Michoacan town of Mexico, The Guardian reported.  Witnesses and officials claim that the attack was pre-planned. The attackers, dressed in military uniforms, arrived at the location at 10.30 pm on Sunday and opened fire with assault rifles at the crowd. The attackers also use two trucks to block the road leading to the cockfighting arena. A video filmed by a nearby witness captured the sound of the gunfire which was heard from some miles away. Leaked photos from the venue showed bodies scattered inside and outside the building, and barriers and chairs knocked all over the venue. KARACHI: An agitating video has surfaced which showed a man on a motorcycle harassing a passer-by girl in a Karachi street, ARY News reported on Sunday.
