Greece: At least 26 killed, 85 injured in two trains collision

ATHENS: Twenty-six people were killed and at least 85 injured after two trains collided head-on in Greece late on Tuesday night, the fire brigade said, while the circumstances of the crash remained unclear. An intercity passenger train travelling from Athens to the northern city of Thessaloniki collided with a cargo train outside the city of Larissa in central Greece, said the governor of the Thessaly region. “The collision was very strong,” governor Konstantinos Agorastos told SKAI TV, adding the first four carriages of the passenger train had derailed. The first two carriages, which caught fire after the collision, were “almost completely destroyed,” said Agorastos. About 250 passengers were evacuated safely to Thessaloniki on buses. ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has asserted that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and others would be arrested in a case registered against the vandalism at the Judicial Complex Islamabad during appearance of the former premier, ARY News reported on Tuesday. In a statement, the interior minister claimed that the ‘attack’ on Judicial Complex Islamabad was planned by Imran Khan for seeking “favourable decisions” from the court. MQM-P demands to extend time for household census

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has demanded the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) extend time for household census as Pakistan’s first-ever digital census will kick off on March 1 (Wednesday), ARY News reported. The MQM-P has penned down a letter to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) chairman, expressing concerns over the steps taken for first-ever digital census. Pakistan’s first digital census to kick off on March 1

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s first-ever digital population and housing census will kick across the country from Wednesday [March 1], ARY News reported on Monday. Briefing the journalists, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) spokesperson Muhammad Sarwar Gondal noted that a portal has already been launched by the bureau so that people can submit their data themselves and don’t need to face the botheration of giving data to census teams visiting door-to-door. He said more than 4 million people have already been registered at the portal and a UTN number will be issued to them after their data is saved and they can give that number to the census team. KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has decided to hold ‘power shows’ against ‘flawed’ delimitations of constituencies as the Sindh government did not notify the increased number of union councils (UCs), ARY News reported on Sunday, citing sources. KARACHI: A shopkeeper opened fire at an assistant commissioner (AC) in Karachi when he was visiting his shop to check the milk prices as an ordinary citizen, ARY News reported on Wednesday. The incident took place in Karachi’s Sikandar Goth area. The AC received several complaints against the milk shop owner for profiteering. The AC visited the milk shop alone as an ordinary citizen. Car prices jacked up in Pakistan as rupee weakens

KARACHI: Pak Suzuki Motor Company has jacked up the price of cars, citing rupee devaluation against the dollar and shortage of raw materials, ARY news reported. According to details, Pak Suzuki jacked up its car prices by Rs263,000 on the back of increase in power tariffs along with currency fluctuation. It is for the third time in the current year Suzuki has increased prices of its cars. Suzuki’s Alto VX will now be sold for Rs2.144 million following an increase of Rs110,000.
