Karachi: Illegal inter-city bus stands to be removed

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi on Wednesday ordered action against ‘illegal’ inter-city bus stands which are creating inconvenience to other motorists besides causing traffic jams, ARY News reported.   Chairing a meeting in this regard, Commissioner Karachi directed the concerned authorities to take action against these illegal inter-city bus stands within two weeks. The bus stands identified for removal include Cantt, Taj Complex, Muhammad Ali (MA) Jinnah Road, and Al-Karam. Deputy commissioners, district police, and traffic police will jointly carry out the operation. ‘Steven Seagull’ banned from entering store after multiple thefts

A convenience store in the United Kingdom’s Dorset has banned a bird named “Steven Seagull” after it pulled off multiple heists in over six years. Explaining the reason for its move, the manager of the store Stuart Harmer claimed that the bird stole 30 packets of chips in just the last two months. Karachi: New route for electric bus service announced

KARACHI: The Sindh Transport Department has announced to launch to new route for Electric Bus Service in Karachi to facilitate citizens, ARY News reported on Wednesday. The new route, dubbed “EV-4”, will connect Super Highway to Numaish Chowrangi, spanning 55 kilometers. The route was inaugurated by PPP MPAs Raja Abdul Razzaq and Sajid Jokhio. Pakistan’s auto industry sees ‘record’ business

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s auto industry saw record sales during the last 18 months as 81,577 cars were sold in the last fiscal year, ARY News reported. According to the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA),  in a remarkable turnaround, Pakistan’s auto industry has achieved an 18-month high in car sales, with a staggering 138 percent annual increase in June alone. The PAMA said that 10,128 units were sold in June 2024, up from 4,257 units in the same month last year. The association added that the sale of cars above 1300cc has seen a significant boost of 174 percent, while buses and trucks have also seen a notable increase in sales. Female doctor involved in illegal kidney trade arrested

The Indian police officials have arrested a female doctor allegedly involved in illicit removal and sale of kidneys from poverty-stricken individuals. Reports from Indian media outlets indicate that alongside the doctor, six other individuals implicated in this criminal enterprise were also detained. According to police sources, the international kidney transplant racket extends its operations from New Delhi to Bangladesh, with the 50-year-old doctor originating from Chennai. Alongside the doctor, three of her associates, including a translator, were arrested. Additionally, three Bangladeshi nationals who facilitated the trafficking of kidney patients and donors from Bangladesh to India were also taken into custody. ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan has observed that the murder trial of former prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was ‘unfair and lacked due process’, noting that the country and the courts were captive to Marital Law, ARY News reported on Monday.
