Kuwait Petroleum Company denies leaving Pakistan

ISLAMABAD:  Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) has denied reports of exiting Pakistan’s oil and gas sector, vowing to expand its operations in the country. In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company said on Tuesday that it will continue to be a strategic partner to the Pakistan in oil and gas sector. KUFPEC said that its subsidiaries, KUFPEC Pakistan Holdings BV, KUFPEC Pakistan BV, and Kirthar Pakistan BV, have successfully divested their “non-operated assets” in Pakistan. “The divestment was made in favour of Petroleum Exploration (Pvt) Limited, a leading private-sector exploration and production company in Pakistan with a significant local and international presence”, the statement said. The fourth AUS v IND Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Australia’s Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) has broken a decades-old record. The Boxing Day Test between Australia and India has drawn a crowd to the tune of 373,691 across five days of the game . With the figures, the fourth game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy surpassed the previous record of 350,534 set in 1937. As per Cricket Australia, 51,371 arrived for the first session of the final day of the Boxing Day Test to break the record. Seema Haider’s picture linked to Rs 99 crore fraud

Two brothers in Darbhanga, Bihar, are accused of a 99.21 crore in Indian rupees (INR). They used fake IDs with photos of Seema Haider and her husband, Sachin, to carry out the scam. The fraudsters, Vipin Jha and Ashutosh Jha, were arrested in a joint operation by the police from Arunachal Pradesh and Darbhanga. The strange part of this scam is that the accused brothers used the photos of Seema Haider and her husband, Sachin, on their company’s fake IDs. The brothers worked as accountants for a company named Siddhivinayak Trade Merchant, owned by Rahul Jain, based in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. Indian national arrested over illegal stay in Pakistan

MANDI BAHAUDDIN: Punjab police have arrested an Indian national for staying illegally in Mandi Bahauddin city, ARY News reported on Saturday. The police conducted a raid, on a tip-off, in Moong area within the remit of Saddar police station. The suspect, identified as Badal Singh, who failed to provide a valid visa or any permit for staying in Pakistan. During the investigation, he was revealed to belong to Nagla Khatkari area of Aligarh in India. Police produced Badal Singh before the local court after registering a case against him. The judge sent the Indian national to jail for 14 days on judicial remand. Law ministry announces major reforms in Criminal Procedure Code

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Law and Justice has announced significant reforms in the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) 1898, ARY News reported. According to reports, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar presented the wide-ranging amendments in the Criminal Procedure Code, which were unanimously approved by the federal cabinet. According to the Ministry, the amendments were recommended by a committee formed under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Govt decides to cancel agreements with six more IPPs

ISLAMABAD: The federal government of Pakistan has decided to terminate agreements with six more Independent Power Producers (IPPs) to reduce electricity prices, ARY News reported, citing sources. Aiming to provide relief to consumers burdened by high electricity costs, the government has decided to end expensive contracts with six more IPPs having a total capacity of 2,396 Megawatt, government sources said. This measure is expected to save at least Rs300 billion in the national exchequer of Pakistan. The six IPPs include Gul Ahmed Energy with 136 megawatt capacity, Kapco Power Project 1638 MW, Liberty Power 200 MW, Attock Power 135 MW, Koh e Noor Energy 131 MW, and Tapal Energy 126 MW. KARACHI: The trend of migration in educated Pakistani youth is increasing exorbitantly, according to a report by PIDE. A report by the think tank Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) explained that disappointment with the future and the feeling of insecurity in Pakistani youth were among the major reasons for the brain drain. According to the figures by Overseas and Immigration of Pakistan, around 281,000 Pakistani citizens have moved to other countries in search of employment opportunities in 2024. BEIRUT: Four Israeli soldiers who were killed in southern Lebanon were likely killed in an accidental detonation of explosives as they demolished a Hezbollah tunnel laden with weapons, Israel’s Army Radio reported on Monday. The Israeli military said that four soldiers killed in combat, without providing further details. ISLAMABAD: The Constitutional Bench will hear a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, seeking formation of a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 riots, ARY News reported. A seven-member constitutional bench, headed by Justice Aminuddin, will hear a petition on December 10 regarding the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 incident. Imran Khan had filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking an investigation into the May 9 incident.
