Punjab imposes section 144 during Eid al-Adha

LAHORE: On the directives of the Punjab government, Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code has been imposed from June 5 to June 11, to maintain public peace and safeguard the lives of citizens during the Eid al-Adha holidays. The notification was issued on account of the reports associated with Eid al-Adha celebration practices, which are not safe and unhygienic. The Punjab government has announced several guidelines to ensure public safety, hygiene, and public order during the upcoming Eid occasion. According to the notification, animal remains, such as heads and trotters, cannot be burnt in public spaces. Also, animal waste and offal are prohibited from being discarded in drains, manholes, canals, or other water bodies to stop contamination. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Revenue Hidayat Buledi lost his life in a militant attack that targeted the Sorab bazaar area in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district, where armed assailants targeted both a bank and government residences in a coordinated strike, ARY News reported. 79 miners rescued from South African shaft, over 100 still underground

Supreme Court announces summer vacation schedule

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan has announced its summer vacation schedule, allowing judges to go on a maximum month-long break, ARY News reported. According to a statement, Chief Justice Yahya Afridi has directed that judges can take one-month vacations between June 16 and September 8. The judges will take turns, and for 15 days, they can also work from their preferred stations. Several airlines suspend flight operations amid India-Pakistan tensions

Quetta Gladiators spinner Usman Tariq, who was reported for a suspect bowling action in the PSL 10, has cleared his bowling assessment. The spinner underwent testing at the PCB-accredited biomechanics lab in Lahore, as per a statement by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The right-arm spinner’s bowling action was reported during the side’s clash against Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on April 13. However, Usman Tariq was allowed to bowl in the PSL 10, as the PCB rules state. “If he is reported again, he will be suspended from bowling and will need to obtain clearance from an ICC accredited lab before he can resume bowling”, the statement added.
